Dr. Liberatore visits

Alana’s dad, Dr. Liberatore came in to talk to us about teeth.  He is a teeth expert.  He knows a lot about braces and how to keep your teeth healthy.  February is National Children’s Dental Health Month.  We learned about the four parts of a tooth.  We also talked about being responsible and taking care of your teeth.  Dr. Liberatore gave us some goodies to help us take good care of our teeth.  Thanks Dr. Liberatore!!!!  Two lucky friends won a special bag of teeth goodies.  This will really help keep their buckies nice and shiny!

New math game

Today we learned a new math game called the Number Grid Game!  You can play this game at home.  All you need is a die , counters and a number grid.  Roll the die and move.  There is a catch!  When you get to the bottom of the number grid, you have to roll the exact number in order to move and win.  When students are counting, we are working on keeping the counter in place, counting with our finger and then moving the counter.  This helps students develop the concept of hopping or moving up correctly.

Tuesday

In writing workshop we got some new papers to write on because we started a new unit of writing.  We are writing teaching books called How To books.  Maya’s writing a book about how to get ready to go outside.  Bella’s book is about how to brush your teeth.  Mason’s book is about how to mop the floor.  Henry’s book is about how to ride a bike.  Brenna’s book is about how to jump rope.  Chase’s book is how to play basketball.

During math time Hunter, Brodie and Zoe played a new math game.  If you would like to play this new counting game, click here.

We have new word work stations.  Henry and Brenna’s favorite is stamping word wall words.  Chase’s favorite is the putty stamp station.
