The past two days have been great! We are learning and having a lot of fun in the process. We are learning each other’s name, how to play on the playground, how to have fun in the classroom and lots more. Today we had our first All School Share. All students in the school gathered in the gym to celebrate the new school year together. We met Mrs. Briggs the principal and all of the teachers in our school.
If possible keep an extra set of clothes in backpack (helpful when clothing gets wet) and label with your child’s name: backpack, lunch box, coat, thanks!
Reminders: No School Monday (September 1st – Labor Day)
We met Tessa’s dad today. He is going on a long trip to the desert. Tessa’s dad read us a story called My Dad’s A Hero which was about all the great things that dad does while he is away serving in the military. We are going to miss you! Thank you for being so brave!
Due to the snow day we will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Thursday.
Thanks for your help today friends!
Today we did a cool experiment with Mrs. Erickson in guidance. Here’s what we did:
Step 1. Fill a bowl with water- the bowl is the school, the water is the classroom
Step 2. Shake lots of pepper (pepper people) into the bowl.
Step 3. Fill the pepper people’s buckets’ with sugar (the sweet, kind things we say and do for people). Watch what the pepper people do- they go towards the sugar.
Step 4. Dip a bar of soap into middle of the bowl. The soap is the bucket dipping things we say or do to people. Watch what the pepper people think of bucket dipping. They move away from the soap.
Life Lesson: People want to be around those who say or do nice things and people don’t want to be around people who don’t.
Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to celebrate your child’s writing with us! They really enjoyed the visit and kind comments 🙂
Reminder: NO SCHOOL MONDAY
We ended the day with an All School Share. Lately it has been so cold that we have not been able to go outside and play. During All School Share we had fun sharing different ways we have moved and had fun inside. Here are some of our favorites:
Some of us wrote music notes during choice time. We are learning how to read music. Quarter notes are tah. Eighth notes are tee tee. Sixteenth notes are teary teary. Check it out!
During math we practiced reading two digit numbers like 21, 22, 30, 31, 36, 89. By the end of kindergarten we need to able to read 2 digit numbers. This is the rubric we are using to show what we know.
With Mrs. Erickson we have been talking about our families. We drew pictures of our family.
Maya’s Pepper got lost today at lunch. Hunter saved the day because he found Pepper hiding in a cubby. Thanks Hunter!
