Tooth experiment

Last week we did a tooth experiment.  Our goal was to observe what happens to your teeth when you do not brush or floss them.  We used a hard boiled egg as our tooth.  Each tooth (egg) was placed in a container of liquid.  After four days we opened the containers and examined the teeth (eggs).  Here are the results.

This tooth was in milk.  It started out white.  After day 4 it was still white.  We learned that plain (regular) milk is good for your teeth

This tooth was in soda.  It started out white.  After day 4 it was brown.  When we used a tooth brush and tooth paste we noticed that the tooth looked better but was still brown.  We learned that soda is not good for your teeth, drink with caution.  Always remember to brush your teeth!

This tooth was in Hawaiian Punch.  It started out white.  After 4 days it was dark brown with white spots and cracks.  When we used a tooth brush and tooth paste we noticed that some of the brown gunk came off but we could not get it all.  We also noticed that the white spots stayed the same and that the cracked part was still cracked.  We learned that extra sweet juice is not good for your teeth.  Drink with caution and always brush your teeth!
